Hello, I am Giulia
I'm a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Rome, Italy.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of my life abroad.
How It All Began
Moving to Italy wasn't part of a long-range plan. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something bigger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complex than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Phase
There was cultural shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Created CalmLakePaper
Most online information was either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family point of view.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Practical know-how from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- A resource for tourism authorities
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Italy goes on, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I will continue recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, please feel free to reach out.
Best regards,
Giulia
